Fire crews were called to a section of the M20 this morning after a large van went up in flames.

The incident happened around 2.20am between junction 2 at Wrotham and junction 1 at Swanley and lasted more than two hours.

Three fire engines attended and crews wearing breathing apparatus emptied approximately two-thirds of the van contents, and put the fire out using three hose reel jets.

Firefighters managed to salvage a large quantity of household furniture and a bag of photos from the van.

No injuries were reported.
