Broken down HGV causes long delays on Queen Elizabeth II Bridge at Dartford Crossing

Drivers are having to queue in six miles of traffic after a lorry broke down on a major route.

Lanes three and four of the southbound carriageway on the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge at Dartford Crossing have been sealed off following the incident this afternoon.

Officials from National Highways are warning motorists that the closures have caused 45-minute delays.

A spokesman for the body said: "The lanes are shut due to a broken-down HGV.

"There is currently about 6 miles of congestion on the approach.

"This is causing delays of 45 minutes above usual journey times."
