Miles of traffic is backing up on the A2 and at the Dartford Crossing this afternoon after a vehicle broke down on the exit slip road of the tunnel.

Queues of traffic built up earlier after what is thought to be a vehicle with a horsebox, broke down on the slip road on the Essex side of the crossing.

At times there were five miles of stationary traffic on the approach to the crossing from the Kent side on the M25 and the A2.

Tailbacks went right back to the Darenth Interchange.

However, vehicles are now moving again after the broken down vehicle was removed, but there is also another broken down vehicle on the anticlockwise carriageway.
