Traffic queued for four miles following a 'police incident' on the Dartford Crossing this afternoon.

All vehicles were held on and around the QEII Bridge after officers arrived at the scene, with a number of patrol cars in the area.

Police later confirmed they had been called following reports of concern for someone's welfare.

The person - understood to be a woman - was found by officers and taken to safety shortly after 4pm.

Heavy traffic had built up in the area, particularly between Junction 31 of the A1306 and Junction 1A of the A206 at Dartford.
