Plans for a further 89 new homes have been submitted as part of a major redevelopment of Dartford town centre.

The plans would see existing buildings demolished on land east of Lowfield Street, as developers Bellway look to launch Phase 5 of their Copperhouse Green project.

Once completed the five phases of the scheme will bring 644 new homes to Dartford.

A statement submitted with the application, said: "New development here is re-shaping a rundown part of Dartford and is important to the regeneration of the town centre.

"This is an important opportunity to integrate a previously separate development site into the wider masterplan.

"The approach to the design and layout of Phase 5, now as part of the Bellway project, reflects a similar character to the earlier phases, ensuring greater coherence throughout the site.

"The previous approval described a number of sensible urban design decisions which are consistent here, however the key benefit is the connectivity across the boundary for residents to be able to share the public realm and links to the Town Centre and Park. The development of the Phase 5 site provides full integration of vehicular and pedestrian routes that tie into the Masterplan."

Members of the public can inspect copies of the application and accompanying documents at the Council offices, Civic Centre, Home Gardens, Dartford DA1 1DR during normal office hours and at www.dartford.gov.uk (Select Services, Planning Service and Public Access).
