Dartford council is calling for projects and ideas on how to spend £1 million from the government's 'levelling up' fund.

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) is a £2.6billion pot of funding which will be distributed to authorities across the UK, in an effort to help less prosperous communities.

Stakeholders who want to put forward suggestions for inclusion in the investment plan can email ukspf@dartford.gov.uk for a form to submit their ideas.

The council says all ideas will be considered however, submission of a form does not guarantee that a proposal will be included in the plan.

A statement on the initiative added: "Selection must be based on how well a project fits in with the fund's priorities and outcomes and how well they demonstrate deliverability, evidence of need, partnership working and value for money."

The fund's investment priorities are listed as "community and place", "supporting local businesses" and "People and skills".

The community priority will focus on strengthening social fabric, fostering a sense of local pride and belonging, and building resilient and safe neighbourhoods; while the business priority will look to create jobs and boost community cohesion by supporting local businesses, and promoting networking and collaboration.

Investment in people and skills will look to boost core skills and support adults to progress in work, while also helping disadvantaged people access the skills they need.

Further information about the fund is available through the council’s website, and the deadline for applications is June 12.
