A series of traffic holds were understood to be taking place between Junction 2 for the A2 (Darenth Interchange) and Junction 1B for the A282 (Dartford), while teams dealt with an incident on the road.

Queues of cars had been backing up on the approach to the tunnels, but work has been completed and traffic is understood to be flowing normally.

The exact nature of the incident is unknown.

Police have been contacted for comment.
