A new £150,000 "super-playground" is set open in Dartford as part of a £1.3 million revamp project.

Children will be able to use the new facilities at Stone Recreation Ground when it fully opens to users as part of a launch event held this Bank Holiday Monday.

A new £150,000 super playground is set to be unveiled at Stone Recreation Ground

The new attraction forms part of Stone Parish Council's regeneration works for the park.

It will include sensory and inclusive equipment, as well as targeted areas for pre-school, primary and teenage kids to ensure all age groups are catered for.

The final design was awarded to play equipment supplier Kompan after a public consultation ran earlier this year, generating more than 100 responses.

It was hoped the playground would be ready ahead of the school summer holidays but delays with overseas shipments pushed back the project.

But the focal point of the park will now be unveiled on Monday as part of grand opening event to be held between 1pm and 4pm.

It will be officially opened by the Mayor of Dartford, Rosanna Currans and will feature a host of other activities.

This will include face painting, giant inflatable games, a comedy magic show, and a meet and greet with some special guests plus more.

Children of all ages will be able to test out the new equipment and refreshments will be available from the newly opened Lizzie’s cafe, located opposite Stone Pavilion.

The parish council has advised that numbers in the playground may be restricted at times for safety reasons.

Speaking previously, Chairman of the council Lucy Canham said: “We are delighted to be delivering the first of many planned improvements at Stone Recreation Ground.
