East Hill in Dartford shut between Home Gardens and Park Road due to oil spill

A busy main road in a town centre has been shut due to an oil spill.

East Hill has been closed between Home Gardens and Park Road in Dartford to allow a clean-up operation to take place.

An oil spill occurred in the town centre at around 6am yesterday and saw huge amounts of congestion building in the surrounding streets.

It prompted Kent County Council to order an emergency road closure.

The road authority says it expects the clean-up to be complete by 7pm tonight.

A diversion is currently in place and the alternative route is via Park Road, Princes Road, Lowfield Street, Instone Road, Highfield Road, Highfield Road North, Westgate Road and the A226 Home Gardens.

From Home Gardens turn into Overy Liberty, High Street, Market Street, Lowfield Street, Princes Road and Park Road.
