A policeman was assaulted confronting two offenders after a police chase yesterday.

Officers from the force's rural team tweeted photos of the aftermath of the pursuit in Crockenhill, near Swanley, which ended with a 4x4 vehicle ended up on its side.

Police say they were called at 8.30pm to reports of a robbery at the Co-Op in Swanley High Street.

A vehicle driven by the suspect drove away from police when requested to stop and was later involved in a collision in Dalton's Road, Crockenhill.

The driver, a man aged 29 from Orpington, was arrested and remains in custody, while a second suspect remains outstanding.
