A member of Kent Fire and Rescue Service said they were alerted to the incident by a neighbour and were "treating the incident as suspicious".

Stone ward Cllr Kelly Grehan (Lab) has asked Kent County Council to repair the road as soon as possible.

"Im really sorry residents have had to endure this as it was clearly a horrible experience," she said.

A member of the highways team attended the site this morning to put cones and tape around the affected area.

The owner of the vehicle, who has been in hospital in what is believed to be an unrelated incident, has advised he would organise removal today with his insurance company.

Once it has been removed the authority says it will be able to inspect the damage to the carriageway and footway and raise works as required.
