Kent weather: Met Office issues yellow weather warning for thunderstorm over Gravesend, Dartford and Tunbridge Wells

Thunderstorms are expected to hit parts of the county tonight.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning across North West Kent including Gravesend, Dartford and Tunbridge Wells.

Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop overnight and a few places may see 20-30mm fall in under an hour.

There may also be frequent lightning, hail and gusty winds causing disruption and damage to some buildings and structures.

The Met Office has warned there could be delays to train services, short term loss of power and other services and flooding.

Driving conditions will also be affected, meaning motorists should expect longer journey times by car and bus.

The thunderstorm warning is in place from 8pm until 4am tomorrow morning.
