A fiancee has paid tribute to her partner after he was found shot dead inside a Dartford home, describing him as a man with a "heart of gold".

Robert Williamson, from Northfleet was found on Tuesday inside a terraced property on Dartford Road, near West Hill Primary Academy.

The 43-year-old had sustained injuries consistent with a gunshot wound, police have confirmed.

Yesterday detectives arrested a man and David Hucker, 69, of Dartford Road has since been charged with murder and remains in custody.

Following his death Robert's fiancee paid tribute to her partner who she described as having a "heart of gold".

A statement issued on her behalf read: "Robert Williamson was tragically taken from us after the incident at Dartford Road, Dartford.

"Robert was loved, respected and will be sorely missed by his fiancee, family and friends, he had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone and has left a void in our lives.

"At this time we request that our privacy be respected whilst we come to terms with our loss."

Floral tributes and a Union Flag bearing the names Dan, Rob and Jake were also left outside the property guarded by officers.

The flag read: "B Company. Forever in our hearts. Our friend and our brother."

While police continued their murder probe, local residents described the "crazy" scenes as armed police swooped on the busy main road on Tuesday.

A cordon was put in place for much of the day between the Harvester Rising Sun pub up to the bus stop near the primary school.

Neighbours were not allowed back into their houses for hours and there were traffic delays around the town, possibly as a result of the diversion.
