A man and a woman were taken to hospital after they were involved in a road collision with a lorry on the M25.

Traffic is still queuing on the M25 anticlockwise near the Dartford Crossing, all the way back to junction 4 following an accident near Swanley at around 7.25am.

Concerned dad Gary Stiff, 48, said he received a call this morning from his son who was injured in the four vehicle pile up.

He said the 26-year-old was sitting in standstill traffic in his four month old Hyundai when a lorry failed to stop and smashed into the back of him.

The vehicle then spun round and another car crashed into the front.

His son received a four inch gash to his head and was rushed to hospital for treatment.

He said his son – who was on the way to Faversham to attend a chef's convention at the time – was still "very shaken up" when he picked him up from the hospital.

Emergency services and traffic officers attended the incident and temporary lane closures remain in place, while debris is cleared from the carriageway.

Congestion is now stretching back towards junction four, near Well Hill.

Police confirmed they attended the incident between junctions 3 and 2, near Darenth, along with fire services.

Ambulance crews attended the scene and a woman was also assessed and treated before being taken to Darent Valley Hospital.

Highways England has said drivers can expect delays of at least 50 minutes.
