A Dartford wholesale food company is fuelling community spirit by offering deliveries to town residents during the Coronavirus lockdown.

The Sausage Man office and warehouse in St Margaret's Road is now offering Dartford residents the option of either delivery or collection on products from German sausages to bread.

Director of sales and marketing Jorg Braese said: "We're normally wholesalers, but after I went to Asda last week and saw hardly any meat on the shelves we decided to open up for the public.

"We were really surprised to see how quickly the bread began to sell, but we're well stocked.

"Christmas is our biggest market time so we had a lot left over, and with BBQ season coming up we were well prepared.

"Delivery costs £5 in Dartford or is free on orders over £40; the cost covers the special delivery as our products are frozen."

The Sausage Man offers meats, breads, and condiments, and caters for many events and shops, including Glastonbury and the German Gymnasium Restaurant in London.

It was started as a London stall 15 years ago and now even delivers to shops and restaurants in Russia and Turkey.

Jorg said: "Normally we have around 500 customers, but as the majority of those restaurants have had to close due to the coronavirus, our revenue is down by about 90%.

"But currently we are healthy and we are able to survive.

"We just want to offer help to the community in anyway we can.

"The Sausage Man is offering deliveries and collection, if you come to our warehouse you'll be served through a window to keep people safe and free from any chance of the virus spreading."
