Woman sexually assaulted in nature reserve near Longfield railway station

A woman kicked a man and ran to safety after being sexually assaulted while passing through a nature reserve.

The victim was walking on a footpath through Rectory Meadow, Longfield, between 6.30pm and 7pm yesterday.

She accessed the area from an entrance in Bramblefield Close, near Longfield train station, and after walking a short distance was approached by a stranger and touched inappropriately.

During the assault she was able to kick the man and run from the scene to safety.

The suspect is mixed race and aged in his 20s or early 30s, with a skinny build and around five feet and eight inches tall.

He wore a black baseball cap, grey camouflage jacket and light blue tight jeans or chinos.

Detectives are appealing for information and say they are exploring a number of lines of enquiry, including forensic and CCTV opportunities.

They are also appealing to witnesses who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area to contact police.

Residents living nearby with doorbell cameras and other home security systems, as well as motorists with dashcam, are also urged to check for any footage which may assist the investigation.
