Work has started to build hundreds of new homes at Kent's garden city.

The scheme, known as Castle Grange, will deliver 138 flats in the Alkerden Village district of Ebbsfleet.

It will offer 36 affordable homes and 102 for private sale by construction firm Bellway London Partnerships.

Bill Kenneally, regional director, said: "This is an exciting project with a strong focus on sustainability throughout the development, especially when it comes to transport.

"Residents at Castle Grange will have access to cycle stores to promote green travel, electric car charging points and direct access to the Fastrack route - a dedicated bus lane that forms a key part of the Ebbsfleet sustainable transport scheme, in addition to the already-available high speed train from Ebbsfleet station.

"The result will be a modern housing development equipped with a range of facilities to ensure residents can enjoy a sustainable lifestyle."

Planning permission was granted by Ebbsfleet Development Corporation in December 2021.

The latest Bellway project will be launched in autumn 2022 when the first selection of new homes will be released for sale.

The firm currently has five developments planned or in progress at the garden city.
