Man in court following theft of Harry Potter-style Ford Anglia once admired by Ron Weasley actor Rupert Grint

A man charged with the theft of a Harry Potter-style classic car, once admired by actor Rupert Grint, has appeared in court.

The customised blue Ford Anglia car was stolen from Station Road in Walmer on Thursday, October 17 last year.

Following a police investigation, Richard Matthews was charged with burglary.

The 36-year-old formerly of Ingoldsby Road, Folkestone, appeared before Folkestone Magistrates' Court on Friday, November 20.

The case was adjourned until Monday, December 21, when it will be heard at Canterbury Crown Court.

The car is a replica of the one seen flying in one of the films about the boy wizard.

It is owned by Steven Wickenden, of Walmer, who hires it out for themed weddings, birthday parties, fun days and TV and movie filming.
