With its flagship summer events cancelled as a result of the pandemic, Martha Trust is delighted to be returning to fundraising with two golf days.

The charity based at Hacklinge near Deal which supports young people and adults with profound disabilities usually has a packed calendar of events.

But just the cancellation of its Music on the Farm event at Solley's in Ripple and Music4Martha held on The Square resulted in a £30,000 income dip this year.

Now, the Mercury's Charity of the Year is delighted to be back with two golf days. The first being at the Walmer & Kingsdown Golf Club on Thursday, October 8 2020.

Entry is £45 per person, £180 for a team of four or £140 for members.

And the second golf day will take place on Thursday, October 15 2020 at Princes Golf Club in Sandwich Bay. The cost is £80 per individual, £320 for a team of four non-members, or £150 for members.

Both days will start with coffee and a bacon roll ahead of 18 holes of golf, followed by a two-course dinner and charity auction conducted by Clive Emson Auctioneers.

The charity’s patron is former West Indies international cricketer John Shepherd who will be supporting both events.

Club manager at Walmer & Kingsdown, Jonathan Webb, said: “When we are planning our club diary, one of the first events to be confirmed is the annual Martha Trust Day.

"Unfortunately, Covid-19 prevented us from running the day in April however, it gives us great pleasure to be able to run the day on October 8 and support the charity.

"The support of our members and the golfing community never ceases to amaze me and this year will be no different.

"We look forward to welcoming you to our club on the cliffs.”
