Kent Police are investigating an alleged rape in Deal.

Officers were called at around 4.40am today and the alleged offence is reported to have taken place at a private address in the Mill Hill area of the town.

A police spokesman said: "A 21-year-old man from Deal was arrested in connection with the incident and was taken into custody.

"Both parties are understood to be known to each other."
