Players at Betteshanger Bowling Club in Deal are delighted to be back on the green after lockdown - with the added bonus of new equipment thanks to their sponsors.

Ripplevale School, an independent special school for boys aged six to 18, has been associated with the club for the past five years, in which time they have helped with upgrading the green and equipment.

Ripplevale CEO Jane Norris hands over the new scoreboards to committee members Vic Fisher, Jim Mayo and Margaret Ryan

Chief executive officer Jane Norris presented their latest gift of new scoreboards to committee members, last week.

It's boosting play for members who were unable to enjoy the sport for seven-weeks due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Committee member Margaret Ryan said: "It wasn’t until June 6 that members could bowl again, under strict rules from Bowls England, but gradually more and more bowlers are returning to play in organised roll ups.

"If anyone would like to try their hand at bowls or just come along and enjoy the company, we have four qualified coaches who are more than happy to give help and advise."

For more information call Margaret on 01304 362069.
