Dover TAP is now in place at Aycliffe.

The restriction, called the Traffic Access Protocol, has been put on the section of the coastbound stretch A20 because of a large volume of lorries.

Kent County Council highway officials announced this at 1.25pm today.

Dover TAP is a temporary traffic management system which queues port-bound lorries on the nearside to prevent congestion in the town.

It also means a 40mph speed restriction for all vehicles approaching the port and town.
