Man, 91, and woman, 83, in court after Extinction Rebellion (XR) protests in Dover

A 91-year-old man and 83-year-old woman are among eight people due in court tomorrow following an Extinction Rebellion protests.

John Lynes and Ursula Pethick are part of a group of people charged with public order offences following the Dover demonstration.

This was after an Extinction Rebellion demonstration at Dover Eastern Docks on September 21.

They and the other defendants will be at Folkestone Magistrates' Court in the morning.

They are accused of failing to keep within a designated assembly and protest area.

They have one charge each, under the Public Order Act 1986, of failing to comply with a condition as a public assembly participant.

Lynes and Pethick are both from East Sussex, Lynes from Magdalen Road, St Leonards-on-Sea, and Pethick from Langham Road, Robertsbridge.

Two co-defendants are from Canterbury: John Halladay, 61, of St Augustines Road, and Luke Mallett, 22, of Sturry Road.

Two others are from Hastings: Tobias Jackson, 48, of Victoria Avenue and Jessica Luby, 38, of Lower Park Road.

The remaining defendants are Bethany Nelson, 24, of Lancaster Road, St Albans, Hertfordshire, and Ronald West, 67, of South Way, Lewes, East Sussex.
