Firefighters have defeated a blaze which tore though a derelict house.

The first fire crews that arrived at around 7pm yesterday were met with the building, in Eythorne Street, Dover, well alight with black smoke billowing from under roof tiles.

In just over two hours they managed to extinguish the flames.
