A man who claimed to be a policeman has been arrested in connection with an attempted burglary.
Officers were called after a resident reported hearing noises from outside her home.
She saw the man attempting to break in and when challenged, he claimed to be a member of the police before he ran away.
A Kent Police spokesman explained: "On Saturday, February 2, between 3am and 6am, a resident in Old Charlton Road, Dover, reported hearing noises coming from the outside of her property.
"She told police she then saw a man attempting to break in and challenged the suspect.
"At first he claimed to be police but then ran away from the house."
Last Friday officers arrested a 45-year-old man from Deal on suspicion of attempted burglary.
He has been released pending further investigation.
