House fire tragedy as man dies in blaze in Primrose Road in Dover

A man has died in a house fire in Dover.

Emergency services were called to the incident in Primrose Road at 10.43pm last night.

Four engines tackled the blaze but a man could not be saved and a woman was treated at the scene before being taken to Kings College Hospital in London.

A spokesman said: "Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called at 10.43pm to a house fire in Primrose Road, Dover.

"Four fire engines were sent to the scene, as well as a height vehicle, and crews wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the flames.

"Sadly, one person died at the scene. Another casualty was passed into the care of paramedics."

Crews left the scene at 1.20am.

A police spokesman said: "An investigation into the cause of the fire remains ongoing."

Today, the home remains cordons off with police tape while fire representatives can be seen carrying out work inside.
