Dover's Annual Service of Remembrance takes place on Sunday, November 10.

It will be at the People of Dover's War Memorial at 11am to commemorate all service personnel who died for their country.

Members of the public are invited.

A parade of standards, veterans and other groups well meet outside the B&M store, formerly Marks and Spencer, in Biggin Street at 10.30am.

They will then march to the War Memorial in front of Maison Dieu House where a two-minutes' silence takes place at 11am.

The service will be conducted by the Mayor's Honorary Chaplain, the Rev Sean Sheffield, and the laying of wreaths will follow.

The parade will then march through the town to Market Square.

Dover Mayor Gordon Cowan will take the salute at St Mary's Church.

Priory Road will be temporarily closed to traffic from the York Street roundabout to Ladywell.

Preparations for the event are already underway with members of the White Cliffs branch of the Royal British Legion laying out the Garden of Remembrance at the Memorial.

Black British Legion crosses are placed in memory of all regiments connected with Dover during both world wars.

One of the volunteers is former Reservist Peter Hall who has been carrying out the task for 10 years.

He said: "It is a privilege to do this work each year in memory of all those men and women who put their lives on the line.

"My father was in the RAF and I wear his medals not only for him but to commemorate all those thousands of others who risked as much as he did and gave their lives."

Members of the RBL will be at the Garden of Remembrance for the next two weeks collection as part of the Poppy Appeal.
