A TV soap star has joined a fundraising drive to help a Folkestone toddler’s family after he was diagnosed with leukaemia.

Little Leo Frost, who is under two years old, is being treated at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London with mum and dad, Emma and Michael, by his side day and night.

They were told their little boy had the disease last week but have been inundated with support ever since.

Leo's dad Michael says his son is being a "warrior"

A fundraising page has been set up for the family to help them meet transport costs.

"I would just like to say thank you to everyone who is helping us and especially the Royal Marsden Hospital." Dad Michael Frost

Coronation Street actress and former Hear’Say singer Kym Marsh offered her support after retweeting a link to the site to her Twitter followers, who number more than half a million.

Dad Michael thanked people for their support.

He said: “More tests, more blood but my little warrior is still smiling and fighting strong.

“Life has changed in a big way in the last week, not just for me but for a lot of people.

“I would just like to say thank you to everyone who is helping us and especially the Royal Marsden Hospital which is where my boy is getting treated. We couldn’t have asked for a better place for my little man to be right now, they are so nice.

"Leo is doing OK. He has started his first bit of chemotherapy last night and has slept since.

"I've worked my whole life and never have I accepted charity. The only reason I've stopped work now is because I've missed too much time with my son already.

"I'm nearly at what I need to get a car. All I ask is for £1,000. If that was to get higher, the rest is going to a charity of my choice which will probably be Cancer Research or the hospital who have helped my son fight this."

Katie Wood, who set up the fundraising page wrote: “Leo is such a loving, clever, funny and a happy little boy who doesn’t deserve to be suffering like he is.

“We are trying to raise money for transport or a new car for Leo’s dad Michael so they can travel up to the hospital when needed and any other expenses they may need. All family and friends are trying to raise as much money as possible for this perfect little family.”
