Following the Government's Coronavirus guidance on social distancing, Jeskyns Community Woodland in Gravesend is closing to the public.

A Facebook post from the country park said: "The most important thing for Forestry England is to keep the public, our staff and volunteers safe.

"We will close all recreation facilities in the woods and forests we manage. We will keep monitoring the situation closely and follow the latest advice from Public Health England."

This follows from the increased use of outdoor areas since Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, urged people to socially distance themselves.

A post from a Dartford Facebook page stated: "I live by Central Park and every time I look out the window I can see crowds of people.

"Mums, dads, children, grandparents going into the park.

"Why is nobody staying in? I understand it's hard with kids, but nobody said quarantine was going to be a joy!

"People, we are not on holiday, please stay in and stoop spreading the virus!

"The longer it takes us to understand it, the longer the quarantine lasts.

"We are a couple of weeks behind Italy, please stay in!"

Yesterday Boris Johnson warned tougher measures could be introduced if people do not take the government's coronavirus advice seriously.

The PM thanked people for making sacrifices but said people must follow social distancing guidance.

Over the weekend a pub apologised after large numbers of people gathered to use its takeaway service.

The warning comes as NHS England plans to write to 1.5 million people most at risk.

The latest figures show there are 45 people in Kent and 11 in Medway with the illness.
