A man is in a serious condition after falling from his quad bike while travelling along a major road.
Police were called just before 3.45pm to a report a person had fallen from the vehicle while travelling along the A299 New Thanet Way, close to the exit for Herne Bay.
Officers and paramedics are still at the scene and the London-bound carriageway, as well as the on-slip running onto the major route from Canterbury Road, is closed.
A police spokesman said: "A road closure was enforced to allow the air ambulance to land and the injured man has since been taken to a London hospital.
"The London bound carriageway remains closed and inquires at the scene are ongoing."
Motorists travelling along the main road from Thanet towards Whitstable are being diverted off the route at Broomfield.
An eyewitness told KentOnline: "On that on-slip there are three bikes and people stood around with police.
"On the Whitstable-bound carriageway there are three police cars and a couple of ambulances.
"There's also a motorcycle helmet by the side of the road.
"There's no one on the New Thanet Way between Broomfield and this junction."
