Luxury £1 million penthouses have been built on the edge of one of the county's most famous shopping streets.

The development on the Pantiles in Tunbridge Wells replaces one of the town's biggest eye-sores.

Developer Dandara has pulled down Union House - a 1960s office block, on the western edge of the historic parade - and built in its place 127 new homes, including eight penthouse apartments.

At least one of them commands a £1million-plus price-tag.

The 1887 The Pantiles development of one, two and three-bedroom homes was built on the site of the 19th century Pump Room - a live music hall and jazz club, which was once the centre of the town's cultural scene.

The development includes a purpose-designed cultural space, where residents can come together to enjoy live performances and events.

Louise Norman, sales and marketing director at Dandara South East, explained: “Once the epicentre of fashion, the site for our 1887 The Pantiles development is set for a revival, and will serve the community as a home, cultural centre, and meeting place."

Prices for a one-bed apartment start at £299,950. One of the penthouse apartments is on the market for £1.06m.
