A popular author and TV presenter has been spotted enjoying afternoon tea aboard a private luxury train through the Kent countryside.

Richard Osman, the former Pointless presenter and author of the Thursday Murder Club novels, was pictured with his wife, Ingrid Oliver, on the British Pullman.

Dubbed ‘England’s most luxurious train’, the 1920s-styled locomotive travels through Medway before heading past Whitstable, Canterbury and then on to Ashford.

Osman and his actress wife, Ingrid has appeared in Doctor Who and Beyond Paradise, were celebrating their first wedding anniversary on the steam train.

While on board they enjoyed the festive champagne afternoon tea, which sets you back £400 a head while watching the Kent countryside whiz past.

On Belmond’s website it describes the luxurious package as including “perfectly chilled Veuve Clicquot Champagne”, “melt-in-the-mouth finger sandwiches” and a visit from the carol singers who wander the carriages.

Ingrid Oliver shared a video of the couple exploring the Pullman’s facilities on their romantic getaway in a social media post.

She added the caption: “We celebrated our one year wedding anniversary today and went on a train.

“It was amazing. A beautiful ride through the Kent countryside with British Pullman drinking fizz and eating cakes.”

She continued: “A special shout out to Danny for looking after us and The Wild Tonics for serenading us so beautifully, I cried.

“Most importantly, thank you for an amazing year, Richard. I love you.”

Richard Osman, who’s recent successful novels have often featured Kent settings, tied the knot with British actress Ingrid Oliver on December 3 last year after they met when she was a contestant on his quiz show, Richard Osman's House Of Games.
