Man detained at Heathrow Airport in connection with disturbance the night student Andre Bent was murdered in Bank Street, Maidstone

Police have made another arrest in connection with a violent disturbance the night a student was murdered in Maidstone.

A 30-year-old man from Hertfordshire was detained at Heathrow Airport at 7.10am today as he arrived back in the country.

Andre Bent died near Gallery nightclub in 2019.

Police said he was detained in relation to the violence that broke out the night Andre Bent was murdered in August 2019.

Mr Bent, 21, was fatally stabbed during a fight in Bank Street, after Vasilios Ofogeli, 17, and a group of friends had travelled to the Gallery Nightclub from London.

The killing took place outside following a show by rapper MoStack.

Ofogeli was found guilty of his murder last year, as well as two counts of attempted murder and one count of wounding with intent.

He was jailed for life in May 2020.

An investigation by the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate also resulted in prison sentences for nine men for their involvement in the disturbance.
