Appeal for victim of Maidstone assault to come forward

Officers investigating an assault in Maidstone town centre are hoping the victim will come forward.

The incident happened on Sunday, May 30 in Week Street between its junctions with St Faith’s Street and Brewer Street.

Between 2.45pm and 3.05pm, a man wearing dark clothing and a baseball cap is alleged to have approached a woman, who was carrying a large brown shopping bag, and assaulted her.

It is understood he left the scene on foot after members of the public intervened.

Detective Sergeant Scott Winteridge of Maidstone CID said: "The woman targeted in this incident did not call the police and we are appealing for her to contact us.

"We believe she has blonde hair and was wearing a black knee-length dress with short sleeves."
