A man in his 20s has been arrested after an alleged sexual assault.

Police were called at around 3.20am yesterday (August 16) to an allegation of an attack near Broadway, Maidstone.

An alleyway next to the Thai Orchid restaurant off the A20 was closed off yesterday morning by emergency services with forensics and police in attendance.

The alleyway, which is close to the crown court complex and a McDonald’s drive-thru, had reopened by 9am.

At 11.15am today (August 17) a 28-year-old man from Maidstone was arrested in connection with the alleged sexual assault.

He has been taken into custody.
