Body found after police close M20 and M26

A man was found dead near a motorway.

Police were called to the M20 at around 8am yesterday following reports of concern for the welfare of a man.

Officers closed the M20 between junctions 2 and 3 while they carried out inquiries.

A police spokesman said: "The death is not being treated as suspicious and police are compiling a report for the coroner.

"The man’s family have been informed."

Traffic was held in both directions on the M20 for several horus while firefighters and police officers tried to help the man.

The M26 coastbound between Junction 2A for Gravesend and Junction 3 for the M20 was also closed until about 12.30pm.

One motorist who was heading to Sevenoaks said: "The coastbound carriageway was held on the bridge that goes over the M20 at around 8.32am."
