A crash between a car and lorry has been causing delays on the M20 this evening.

Part of the Londonbound carriageway was closed near Maidstone after the incident at about 5.45pm.

The collision forced lanes one and two to be shut between junctions 5 and 4 while recovery of the vehicles take place.

Highways England had warned drivers to expect delays and to allow extra time for their journeys.

But the authority said shortly after 6.10pm the vehicles had been moved off the motorway allowing all lanes to reopen.

It is not yet know whether anyone has been injured.

Kent Police have been asked for further information.
