The train was checked for damage and was able to move towards London Victoria by 3.20pm, but the London-bound line between Maidstone East and Otford line remained blocked while the rails were checked for damage.

Southeastern confirmed the line was reopened just after 4pm, and services were able to run normally between Ashford, Maidstone East, and Otford.
