Police hunt arsonists who brought down phone system in Sutton Valence and Staplehurst

The police need help investigating a suspicious fire at Sutton Valence.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called to a fire that had set light to a fence and damaged some traffic signals on the A274 and cut the phone service to around 7,000 homes across the Weald.

The fire, which started around 11pm on Tuesday, April 5, is being treated as suspicious and officers are urging witnesses who may have seen anybody acting suspiciously in the area to contact the appeal line.

Motorists with dashcam and local residents with private CCTV are also asked to check for footage that may assist the investigation.
