Heroin, crack cocaine and knife seized after police chase in Maidstone

Drugs and a knife have been seized in a town centre.

Plain clothed police officers were in Station Road in Maidstone at around 1.30pm on Monday when they spotted suspicious behaviour.

The suspect ran from officers, but they managed to tackle and arrest him in Royal Engineers' Road.

Police searched the area and found crack cocaine and heroin, thought to have been discarded.

A house in Drawbridge Close, Maidstone was searched, where a knife and SIM cards were seized.

A 35-year-old man from Maidstone remains under investigation and has been bailed to return to police in May.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "We work in partnership with other law enforcement agencies such as British Transport Police and neighbouring forces to detect and disrupt those involved in knife and drug offences.

"This latest arrest forms part of ongoing initiative aimed at reducing knife crime and associated offences across the county."
