Plans to turn a town centre sandwich shop into a restaurant have been submitted to the council.

Quiznos - an American chain similar to Subway - opened its fifth UK site in Maidstone's King Street in 2016.

But the shop has since closed and new plans for the site drawn up.

Proposals sent to Maidstone Borough Council would see the store, which is wedged between Metro Bank and a newsagents, open as a restaurant.

It is located along a busy stretch of pavement in the town centre which has multiple bus stops out front and is surrounded by the likes of Greggs and Costa Coffee.

Planning documents don't reveal what type of restaurant will fill the void left by the café.
