Flat fire in Pudding Lane, Maidstone believed to be accidental

Smoke was billowing from a three storey building when fire crews were called to a blaze in Maidstone this morning.

It started in a second floor flat in Pudding Lane, in the town centre just before 9.30am.

Four fire engines and a height vehicle arrived at the three-storey block and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets and a covering jet to tackle the flames.

The exact cause is not yet known but it is believed to have been accidental.

Nobody was injured.
