Inquest opens into Jason Orwin's death after attack in Bower Place, Maidstone

An inquest has opened into the death of a 55-year-old man who died after being attacked outside his home in Maidstone.

Jason Orwin was airlifted to King's College Hospital in London after the incident in Bower Place on Friday, July 31 where he later died of his injuries.

The emergency services and the air ambulance were called to his front garden at 6.30pm. The inquest heard he suffered a cardiac arrest following a head injury.

His cause of death was given as subdural haemorrhage.

Mr Orwin, a business development manager, had been due to get married last month .

A second man, in his 30s, was also assaulted and treated for his injuries.

The inquest, which opened today at County Hall, Maidstone, has been suspended following a murder charge.

A trial date for Lance Colston, 36, who is charged with murder and actual bodily harm, has been set for January 11 at Maidstone Crown Court.

He will appear alongside 33-year-old Oliver Watts, also charged with actual bodily harm.

Both men, who live in Tonbridge Road, have been remanded in custody.
