A neighbour raised the alarm by calling 999 at 3.01am after spotting the fire in the building, which was being used to store hay and house sheep and lambs.

Firefighters used a pet oxygen mask to treat a couple of lambs suffering from smoke inhalation, but one couldn't be saved and sadly died.

Three fire engines were sent to the scene and the crews used hose reel jets and main jets to tackle the flames.

They also used drag rakes to break up the hay on fire in the building.

There were no other reported injuries and the cause of the blaze isn't known at this time.

A stop time of 4.03am was recorded.
