Man dies in house fire in Tovil, Maidstone

A man has died in a house fire.

Four fire engines raced to Hayle Mill Road, Tovil, Maidstone, at 5.30am yesterday.

Crews fought the flames from inside and outside the property and were able to stop the blaze spreading to neighbouring homes.

But sadly a resident was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.

Fire crews, who were joined by paramedics and police at the scene, spent more than seven hours at the property.

Police said they were called to the scene but there were no suspicious circumstances.

The fire and ambulance service have also been approached for more information.
