Officers investigating alleged attempted murder in Rye Road, Sandhurst, appeal for information

A pensioner remains in a critical condition after being struck by a car in Sandhurst, with police now appealing to the public for information.

Charles Wood, 58, of Rye Road, Sandhurst, man was charged with attempted murder and causing serious injury by dangerous driving after a man in his seventies was struck by a Volkswagen Transporter in Rye Road on Monday.

The victim, who knew the driver of the vehicle, suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a London hospital.

DI Garry Cook of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate said: "I am keen to hear from anyone who has dashcam footage relating to this incident or any information that may help us with our inquiries."

Wood appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court on March 5 and has been granted bail with conditions. He will attend Maidstone Crown Court next month.
