Police investigating reported rape in Brenchley Gardens, Maidstone make arrest

Detectives who released a CCTV image of a man they wanted to track down after a teenager was raped in Maidstone, have made an arrest.

The woman was in Brenchley Gardens between 2am and 3.10am last Sunday when the incident happened.

The victim, in her late teens, was walking through the park with a man when he is reported to have raped her.

The suspect and victim were not known to each other but had spoken during the evening at a bar in Week Street, Maidstone. Police refused to reveal which bar when asked.

Police said on Saturday morning a man was in police custody.
