A young man has been charged with murder following the death of a prison inmate.

Emergency services were called to HMP Maidstone just before 3.35pm on Thursday, after concerns were raised for the victim.

The man, aged 20, was declared dead at the scene by medics, prompting an investigation into the incident.

And police have today revealed that Sasan Rabit has since been charged with murder.

The 24-year-old prisoner is due to appear before Medway Magistrates' Court later today.
