List of postcodes in Maidstone to be targeted in testing for South African variant of Covid-19

The list of specific postcodes to be targeted in a large scale testing operation starting from today in Maidstone has been published.

Members of the emergency services and council workers will be going door-to-door asking residents predominantly in ME15 area of the County Town to be tested for the South African strain of Covid-19, after a resident tested positive for the variant.

They had no links to travel or other variant cases. Maidstone is one of several places in the UK where door-to-door testing is happening after other cases with the South African strain were found.

There was confusion last night over which parts of the ME15 area would be targeted after Matt Hancock referred to the whole of postcode, but Kent County Council issued a map which showed just part of the ME15 area.

KCC has now which specific postcodes will be visited, and which includes several in the ME16 and ME16 area. The area covers around 10,000 households.
