Engineers will be on site to locate the leak and remain until it is fixed and the site is deemed safe to reopen.

The road closure is expected to lead to significant disruption and therefore drivers should expect delays.

The diversion route around the closure will be via the A228, A20 and A26.

Traffic will be advised to divert along the signs at the B2246 Fountain Lane for those travelling West Junction with A26; Mereworth Roundabout (A26) for those travelling East; A228 Seven Mile Lane in both directions before B2015 Maidstone Road to prevent them travelling North via Bow Road; and A20 London Road junction with New Road to prevent traffic travelling south to the crossroads.
